Spotlight of the Month: Celebrating Difference Card Broker Partners, Brandon Adamson and Melissa Miller
We are thrilled to announce Brandon Adamson and Melissa Miller from USI Insurance Services as the Difference Card Broker Partners of the Month for September 2024! Brandon serves as Vice President and Partner at USI’s Indiana office, located in Terre Haute, and has been a leader in the employee benefits industry for over 15 years. Melissa has been in the Human Resources business for over twenty years and currently works as the Operations Manager for USI in Indiana.
A Game-Changing Collaboration
Recently, Brandon and Melissa teamed up with Jennifer Revell, Senior Consultant on The Difference Card’s Midwest Team, to help an independent agriculture organization tackle a major challenge: skyrocketing health insurance costs. The company, previously spending over $6 million annually on their health insurance plan with BCBS, was hit with a 17% renewal increase—which would have pushed their total cost to more than $7.5 million.
Determined to find a solution that would preserve the organization’s dual-option benefit structure, Brandon and his team went to work. They collaborated closely with Jennifer to secure a carrier plan that slashed the company’s fixed costs by over 30%. This strategy generated an impressive $2 million in savings, which was reinvested into the plan to provide even better benefits for employees.
As a result, more than half of the company’s employees opted for a Qualified High Deductible Health Plan (QHDHP) paired with The Difference Card HSA, while the remaining staff selected a first-dollar coverage plan. By incorporating The Difference Card’s Medical Expense Reimbursement Plan (MERP) solution, Brandon and his USI Employee Benefits team helped the employer reduce their health insurance costs to 1% below their current level—saving the company over $1.1 million in the process.
